Sign up for free, create your own mini-bio, set your preferences and you are ready to go.

Go to your home page and start buzzing. Tell us what you are up to in less than 150 characters?. This could be anything you like, from 'I'm enjoying a fantastic new gallery opening' to ' just finished my latest masterpiece' or simply ' lost and looking for inspiration right now'. It is up to you!

Hit buzz and your update will go to the people on artbuzz who are following your updates and to the public buzzes timeline - where a wider audience can see your updates.

All buzzes appear on timelines. From your home page - depending on what buzzes you want to see - just use the tabs to switch between views.

• my buzzes - a timeline of buzzes you have sent
• recent buzzes - the latest buzzes from friends
• replies - replies to your buzzes
• private buzzes - private buzzes you have sent

To see everyone's buzzes, select the public buzzes link at the top of the page.

Following someone simply means you get to see their buzzes/updates. To start following someone, simply click on their profile and select follow. You will then start to receive their updates on your recent buzzes timeline and, if you choose, by email.

A good place to find people to follow is in the public buzzes timeline. This timeline is updated moment by moment, so you will see the latest buzzing activity within the art world. Alternatively use the search option to search for someone by name.

You can choose how you want to receive updates/buzzes. In your Settings go to notifications and simply select how you want to be notified of updates - on the web or by email.

The Following section and the link on your home let you keep tabs on who you are following.

Yes. There are a few ways you can do this. From your home page select the Followers link for a list of everyone who is following you. Click on a person to go to their profile page and view their bio. If you want, select block follower and they will stop getting your updates.

You can also go to Settings and elect to receive email notification every time someone starts following you.

If you would like only people you are following to see your buzzes/updates, go to 'settings' and under 'my account details' select the 'Protect my updates'.

Yes. To send a buzz directly to someone that only they will see, select the recipients name from the drop down box and send your message. Another quick way is to simply start your message with a 'd' (for direct) followed by the person's username i.e. d jobloggs - thanks for your comment on my new artwork".

They will then get an email informing them about the private buzz - if they have selected so in their settings - and they will see their private buzz received count increase in their stats section on their home page.

To see your private buzzes click on the private buzzes links under stats

Remember, you can only send a private buzz to people who are following you.
